What is an ECG?
An Electrocardiogram (ECG) is a non-invasive test that measures the heart’s electrical activity. It is crucial for diagnosing and monitoring heart conditions such as arrhythmias and heart attacks, providing valuable insights into heart function and rhythm.

- Standard Assessment: A resting ECG records the heart’s electrical activity while you are at rest. It is commonly used to detect heart abnormalities such as arrhythmias, heart attacks, and other conditions.
- Quick and Painless: The test is quick, painless, and non-invasive, typically taking just a few minutes to complete.
You will need to lie as still as possible during the test as any sudden movements will make it hard to get a good quality recording. The test only takes a few minutes in total.
Having an ECG involves placing small, sticky patches (called electrodes) on your chest wrists and
ankles. These electrodes are connected to a few leads which link up to the ECG machine.
